I did an entry on the DJ side of thing last night here.  This entry is about the poetry aspect of the show.

I enjoyed last night immensely!  DJing is always fun, even with the bumps, but everyone seemed really into getting up and sharing, and that's always fun.  We don't introduce each other to other poets enough, so it's always nice when folks get ( Read more... )

Last night was the best.  Slam.  Ever.

Three rounds of poetic mettle tested, MCing by Logic out of Michigan, a hot audience, some nice tunes by PacoBlanc and MAD good poetry...it's the kind of thing you wish for as a host and as a poet.  It was one of those nights I wish I could be an audience member and see it without knowing what was coming next ( Read more... )

Yesterday was filled with poetry luxoriousness!

Last night's MPSL bout was really, really fun.

We had the last MPSL bout of the season, and it was our only home game. We battled Dayton (the Detroit team that was supposed to be there dropped out of the league earlier in the season. Not the Detroit Pic-Nap team. They're still there).

Did a new piece tonight in the first round of the slam - my first slam since December! - called "The Flavor of Love" (yeah, it's about the TV show).  Despite many false starts on other pieces, I wrote this one today, got it done and it made the personal cut.  Then I pulled the #1 slot in the slam and came in second to old schooler, Jason Brazwell ( Read more... )
